Scope of Work:

The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, property, and assets at the assigned site.

Responsibilities:

  • Patrols assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to deter, detect, and report security or safety concerns.
  • Enforces site-specific policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and addresses unsafe conditions.
  • Completes incident and activity reports accurately and timely.
  • Responds to emergencies and contacts appropriate agencies; provides basic first aid or CPR if needed.
  • Controls access to the site and monitors for unauthorized individuals.
  • Interacts with and warns individuals who violate rules; takes appropriate action per protocol.
  • Directs pedestrian and vehicle traffic to maintain safety and order.
  • Assists visitors with directions or information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Six (6) months of experience dealing with the public.
  • Knowledge of safety and security issues related to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
  • Ability to obtain a Security Guard license issued by the State of Alaska.
  • Ability to obtain basic first aid and CPR certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, convey information, and assist visitors to the facility.
  • Must have knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Must be physically able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, stoop, reach, balance, climb stairs, and lift up to 60 lbs, including performing these tasks in awkward positions or on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
