Join the Consortium Library Access Services team and work with an engaged and diverse staff to support the UAA community in their educational and professional goals. This position oversees library operations during the evening hours and is responsible for managing course reserves and interlibrary loan lending requests.

 

You will be part of a team that works to cultivate a welcoming environment, stewards the university collections, and connects the community to the vast array of library resources.

 

The Evening Supervisor is responsible for overseeing library operations during evening hours and typically works Sunday to Thursday, 4pm to midnight and may be asked to adjust hours to support departmental and unit services. There is some scheduling flexibility during intersessions. This position includes supervising evening student assistants and resolving patron problems with limited support. Other responsibilities include managing course reserves and interlibrary loan lending requests. The Access Services department provides student, faculty, staff and community patron services. They ensure safe and secure spaces for patrons, employees, and library collections. Access Services is responsible for opening/closing the building, and for safety and security during regular and after hours study.

 

The Evening Supervisor should have knowledge of automated library systems including interlibrary loan and course reserves, and superior customer service skills with the ability to handle difficulties with library patrons. The applicant should be comfortable troubleshooting technology and standard office software applications and have knowledge of library policies and security procedures. This person should have the ability to prioritize multiple demands and have supervisory skills including providing work direction, corrective measures as necessary, and documenting problems.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

High School graduation and two years progressively responsible relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. May require subject or technical knowledge acquired through college coursework, specialized training, or advanced work experience in a related setting.

 

Position Details:

 

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php.
