Who We Are Seeking: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Health & Social Services (H&SS) Director. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic direction of our H&SS Department. We need a strong communicator and relationship-builder who can lead and support our staff, manage programs and projects, ensure compliance with HIPAA and CFR42, and help fulfill CVTC’s mission of helping our citizens and community to thrive. The right candidate will bring vision, organization, and compassion to this leadership role while effectively balancing administrative, supervisory, and community-focused responsibilities.

Qualifications, Education & Experience: 

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the supervision of health, social services and/or medical operations and staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, social services or a similar field of study is preferred but could be substituted for four (4) additional years of relative experience.
  • Ability to function in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including conflict prevention and resolution, trauma-centered practices, and motivational interviewing.
  • Strong trauma-centered leadership skills incorporating mentoring, motivation, and guiding with accountability and integrity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software; and familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

Certificates and Licenses: A valid Alaska Driver’s license and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy is a requirement of this position.

Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check: This position requires you to complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.

Hiring Preferences: As allowed in P.L. 93-638, preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian peoples. CVTC also applies family and local hiring preferences.
