Summary:
Tribally affiliated three-academic year program based in Alaska which seeks students who are culturally sensitive and motivated to make a difference in Alaska Native communities. Students will be provided a challenging curriculum in partnership with Iḷisaġvik College that teaches students to provide oral health services in Alaska. Students accepted to the program may obtain Tribal Health Organization sponsorship. Tribal sponsorship often guarantees employment upon successful completion of the program.

Responsibilities:

DHAT Students are required to participate and pass all required courses. Classes are full time. Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with one hour lunch break. Occasional work outside of standard hours to complete necessary assignments and clinical work.

Participate in all classes and complete all assignments on time. Full-time attendance is required. These include didactic, clinical and general education courses.

Provides patient care as a student provider in structured learning environment under supervision of ADTEP Instructor, who will be a licensed dentist. Patient care is provided in Anchorage, Bethel and in village communities.

Village field travel is completed via small plane, truck, boat or 4-wheelers.

Performs other duties as assigned Contributes to Agile processes, sprints, planning meetings and planning boards.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge of customer service concepts and practices.

Knowledge of computers and comfortable with their use, familiarity with standard Microsoft office suite of applications.

Skill in strong communication, verbal and written.

Skill in problem solving.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Must have high school diploma or GED.

PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Prior health care work experience is recommended but not required. Prefer experience in the Alaska Tribal Health System. Bi-lingual (Alaska Native Regions). Prior experience living and working in remote communities in Alaska. Knowledge of Alaska Native culture(s) and politics.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Satisfy applicable criminal background and character standards and pass mandatory drug screening. Any positive drug tests will result in immediate dismissal from the ADTEP Program. Must abide by ANTHC, Iḷisaġvik College and YKHC drug policies.
