What can you expect?

As the Laborer, you will work onsite and report to our office in Anchorage, Alaska and will primarily be working on projects within Alaska or the Pacific Rim. You will perform tasks involving physical labor including operating hand/power tools of all types: small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. This position is expected to start April 2025.

 

How will you do it?

  • Perform general manual labor including cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support the sides of excavations, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris.
  • Perform general manual labor to include use of hand tools and provide manual labor support for field scientists during excavation activities and sample collection.
  • Identify any hazards as observed for safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Monitor job sites for hazards and maintain a safe working environment and reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants by removing material from the job site.
  • Provide assistance to project manager, site superintendent, foreman, operator, carpenter or other laborer and support staff in the field.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Functions:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated housekeeping skills with attention to detail on environmental hazardous to reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants.
  • Ability to properly wear, use, and maintain personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) on HAZWOPER sites.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
  • Ability to focus on a goal and obtain a pre-determined result.
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

 

Who is Brice Environmental Services looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving and background screening.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools including their uses, repair and maintenance and practical applications preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Asbestos 40-hour certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Environmental Services Driving Policy preferred.
