The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is seeking an expert AV Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of the AV systems across campus. This role includes working on innovative projects, implementing the latest AV technology, and collaborating with various teams to enhance the learning and working experience for our students, faculty, and staff.

 

In this exciting and fast paced role, you'll manage AV projects from conception to implementation, provide expert training and support to other IT Support teams, as well as faculty and staff, and ensure our AV infrastructure is cutting edge. You'll also be responsible for maintaining AV equipment, managing inventory, and working with vendors to bring high quality AV solutions to our campus. This position requires someone to have expert knowledge in AV technology, knowledge of program/project management planning and practices, IT equipment and troubleshooting, and fiscal management. Knowledge of theories and practices of instructional technology and the ability to demonstrate program multimedia control systems and design complex integrated AV/IT systems is required.

 

Applicant needs to have at least five years experience in the Audio / Video field to ensure they possess the depth of knowledge required to properly assist faculty in effectively using technology to support their instruction. Must have heavy experience in audiovisual equipment usage and troubleshooting, along with managing complex problems and projects with multiple priorities.

 

To thrive in this role a successful candidate must be able to demonstrate problem solving skills to help coach and lead the Field Services team to support the AV componentry around campus. The day to day work is more about the planning and design of the technology in the classrooms, as well as managing the AV projects, whether that is done by a third party implementor or our own Field Services Team. The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong communication skills to ensure excellent customer service to our various units, including, deans, directors, and faculty members.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology or other related field) and 5 years experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, plus previous formal training in A/V technology.

 

Position Details:

 

This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage Alaska and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/salary.php, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
