Job Summary: 

We have an excellent opportunity for an Instrument & Controls System Designer to work closely with Electrical Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems. This position will produce complete Instrument & Control System drawings with associated bill of materials.

 

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:  (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.)

  • The development, design and checking of control panels; junction box layout & loading; schematic and wiring drawings; loop and logic diagrams; process  and instrumentation drawings; material take-off; installation details; instrument index; instrument data sheets; vendor document review.
  • Utilize CAD to prepare layout and design drawings using practical design knowledge.
  • Interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Meet layout requirements and develop alternate design layouts of systems as required.
  • Review and comment on supplier data as required.
  • Perform checking of all instrument deliverables as appropriate to the discipline to ensure they clearly depict the design.
  • Review constructability, operability and safety in design.
  • Check compliance with I&C design guides, standards, specifications and procedures.
  • Must be capable of taking a working "Lead Designer" position on smaller projects, with responsibility for all aspects of the detailed design on the project.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years industry experience in I&C design
  • Experience in water & wastewater or petrochemical industries is preferred
  • Working knowledge of UL 508a, 698a and 1203 standards preferred
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software
  • Working knowledge of Inventor 3D CAD is a plus

 

Office Location and Travel:

In-office: This position requires a regular in-office presence, with flexibility to work remotely as needed.

Occasional travel to other local and out of state business sites, conferences and meetings may be requested.

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
