Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

Summary:

Under close supervision of a licensed pharmacist, performs technical duties related to pharmaceutical care in an accurate and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

-  Repackages and distributes prescriptions; performs compounding of IV, topical and oral medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in an accurate and timely manner.

-  Documents patient and procedural information.

-  Follows proper billing procedures.

-  Restocks bays and all other work areas with medications.

-  Performs inventory checks.

-  Orders medications and supplies.

-  Performs data entry.

-  Follows proper drug and chemical storage procedures according to department guidelines.

-  Maintains and cleans pharmaceutical equipment.

- Receives and triages phone calls from patients and healthcare providers.

-  Provides backup front desk customer service.

-  Adheres to the regulatory and practice standards of pharmaceutical care. 

-  Performs other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

A high school diploma or GED equivalent.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Pharmacy Technician I

Non-supervisory - None

 

Pharmacy Technician II

Non-supervisory - One (1) year professional experience at Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) Pharmacy or related experience.

 

Pharmacy Technician III

Non-supervisory – Three (3) years professional experience at Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) Pharmacy or related experience.

 

Pharmacy Technician IV

Non-supervisory – Five (5) years professional experience at Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) Pharmacy or related experience

 

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Pharmacy Technician I

Must possess a current State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license.

 

Pharmacy Technician II

Must possess a current State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license.

Staff holding Pharmacy Technician license requires Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification within one year of employment (with prior approval from Pharmacy Manager, PTCB certification may be extended beyond 1 year of employment if actively enrolled in a Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program or pharmacy technician training course).

Staff holding Pharmacy Intern license - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification not required if actively enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school (adherence to education requirement will be monitored by ANMC Pharmacy Manager).

 

Pharmacy Technician III & IV

Must possess a current State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern License.

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification.
