The Campus Services division within Administrative Services brings together UAA's portfolio of revenue generating enterprises: Parking Services; Housing Facilities and Finance; Campus Dining; Event Services (which includes the Wendy Williamson Auditorium); the Alaska Airlines Center and Avis Alaska Sports Complex; the UAA ecommerce textbook store; and the Campus Gearshop.

The Alaska Airlines Center and Avis Alaska Sports Complex is pleased to announce an opening for a fiscal professional to join our team. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team and work closely with other university departments.

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to extract, analyze, interpret, compile reports, and explain data is the essence of this position.

To thrive in this role as a Fiscal Specialist, the successful candidate will have a minimum of two years professional fiscal experience; strong knowledge and experience in accounting and financial reporting; strong background in customer service; ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to extract, analyze, interpret, compile reports, and explain data is the essence of this position. Event/show settlement experience preferred. Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

A successful candidate will encompass the below skills and abilities:

Knowledge of accounting system functions or procedures (e.g. accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, program and activity codes).
Knowledge and application of accounting theory and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply fiscal and purchasing policies, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of cashiering procedures, internal controls, and cash handling. Ability to reconcile, balance and audit records and accounts.
Knowledge of the university environment, computer literacy, project planning and development, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of general office software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and Acrobat Pro), particularly Excel.
Commitment to excellent customer service.
Ability to compile and analyze financial information.
Ability to evaluate and monitor projects, think analytically, and problem solve.
Ability to work with diverse populations.
Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
Consistently demonstrate dependability, self-motivation, and promptness.
Complete work accurately in a limited timeframe.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to work as part of a team as well as manage multiple tasks and use independent judgement in analyzing and resolving problems.
Ability to learn Banner Student and Banner Finance.
Current knowledge of FERPA and Title IX.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics or related field and 2 years professional fiscal experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

FERPA certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Title IX certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Behavior Based Safety (BBS) certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Workplace Harassment Prevention certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://alaska.edu/jobs/benefits.php. New hires will be placed on the https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/salary-schedules.php, Grade 79, based on education and experience.

This position is a Term-Funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
