The School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alaska Southeast invites applications for an Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO) in Juneau. The CFAO is a senior-level administrator for the School of Arts & Sciences, responsible for fiscal and operational management in support of the faculty, staff, and leadership of A&S.

UAS School of Arts & Sciences programs take full advantage of the majesty of beautiful Southeast Alaska, which includes the famed Inside Passage—a majestic array of islands, channels, and fjords abutting coastal mountains, icefields, and glaciers. Our students have opportunities for field study and research in the Tongass National Forest, in intertidal marine environments, and on nearby icefields. Our Juneau Campus is located in Alaska's capital city, which provides opportunities for student internships in Alaska's legislature.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Advance knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Fiscal financial or budget analysis skills that include knowledge/use of spreadsheet, database, and query development tools.
• Knowledge of UA fiscal rules and regulations is preferred.
• Familiarity with grants and restricted funds management.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with process improvement techniques and demonstrated effectiveness in managing in a culture of change and/or transition.
• The person in this position must exercise good judgment in financial decision making and ability to seek direction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is required.
• Master's degree in business administration, public administration, or management related field is preferred.
• Five years of progressively responsible fiscal experience in, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
• Previous experience in higher education is preferred.
• Experience successfully working with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds is preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Juneau.
