The technician will collect forest and natural resource inventory data on permanent sample plots throughout Alaska. This position spends a majority of time in the field throughout the summer and works as a crew member with 3-4 other inventory technicians. The position provides opportunities to visit various forest sites across the State, including Copper River Basin, Matsu Valley, and Kenai Peninsula. Work schedule is mostly 8 days on and 6 days off, which allows plenty of time off to enjoy the Alaskan summer outside of work. This position requires travel away from Fairbanks via the road system and camping for 8 days at a time. The position requires working long hours in the field. Travel means consist of mainly highway vehicle, but may also include boat and ATV.

To thrive in this role must have a of love science, research and the outdoors.

Minimum Qualifications:

A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one will be required for this position. Coursework in forestry, biology, ecology or other related fields.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt temporary staff position. All applicants hire will be placed on a temporary Grade 77 or higher, based on education and experience.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
