Post Doctoral Fellow-Arctic Climate Dynamics

University of Alaska System

As part of the project, the postdoctoral candidate will work closely with the project leaders to examine large-scale atmospheric circulation variability and processes related to tropical-extratropical interactions, including moisture transport across Greenland and the broader Arctic and local atmosphere-ocean-sea ice-ice sheet interactions at weather-to-climate scales. The candidate will run simulations with CESM1/2 under the guidance of PIs and will analyze CESM1/2-Large Ensemble and CMIP6 output to identify large-scale Arctic climate dynamics in coupled models associated with moisture transport, including through atmospheric rivers and/or Arctic cyclones, in historical and future projections. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to and lead manuscripts, present this work at conferences, and develop and lead follow-on activities related to the project
