Attention education professionals and individuals with advising or direct service experience! TRIO Pre-College Programs at UAA is hiring a full-time Advisor-Coordinator with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. This is a full-time grant-funded position under the TRIO Pre-College Programs department (Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search/ETS) at UAA. Advisor-Coordinators will work directly in select Anchorage School District high schools to recruit and assist students with preparing and enrolling in postsecondary education. TRIO Pre-College programs serve low-income and potential first-generation college student populations, directly assisting with their preparation to enter and complete a postsecondary education. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students, create and deliver a variety of program services, and directly impact student success. Preference will be given to candidates with personal experiences in overcoming barriers similar to program participants.

The Pre-College Advisor/Coordinator will serve up to 250 students within the target high schools to provide both one-on-one and group advising, host college readiness workshops, conduct in-class recruitment presentations, and work alongside high school staff to better serve participants. Advisor/Coordinators plan out-of-school events related to career exploration, college/trade tours, and other co-curricular activities. In order to execute these primary job functions, Advisor/Coordinators must demonstrate the ability to network and build meaningful relationships with school/university counterparts and industry professionals. Advisor/Coordinators must also possess the ability to coordinate all aspects of event planning to include basic digital marketing creation, managing event logistics, and demonstrate a working knowledge of Google Office Suite.

Finally, Advisor/Coordinators must possess demonstrated ability to instruct small group lessons, and have a sincere enthusiasm to guide high school students on a clear path to reaching their postsecondary educational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a closely related field. An advanced degree is preferred.

A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage as well as high schools in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
