 General Functions:

  • This is a position specifically designed for Anchorage area residents ages fifty (50) and older. The Eldership initiative is intended to nurture emotional well-being, spiritual well-being and physical health through community engagement. 
  • Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Nurture emotional well-being through a sense of optimism and purpose
  • Take part in community engagement and play an active role within the CITC community
  • Advance spiritual well-being through community connections
  • Raise physical health through positivity and active living
  • Foster an inter-generational learning environment through story telling and sharing wisdom 
  • Embody behavior and work ethic centered on CITC values (Respect, Interdependence, Accountability, Resilience, and Humor).
  • Embody behavior and work ethic centered on the Ten Universal Values (Show Respect to Others, Share What You Have, Know Who You Are, Accept What Life Brings, Have Patience, Live Carefully, Take Care of Others, Honor Your Elder, Pray For Guidance, and See Connections). 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Learn and understand CITC’s mission, vision, strategic focus areas including CITC’s ThriveAbility Plan and incorporate knowledge into daily activities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information and respond effectively and sensitively to questions from staff of CITC and their partners.
  • Good interpersonal and public contact skills; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff of CITC and affiliated-company employees; exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others.
  • Work independently as well as on a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Reflect a high degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be fifty (50) years of age or older. 
  • Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint background check.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.
  • Experience in an AK Native Corporation or AK Native Non-profit setting and/or organization serving AN/AI people strongly preferred.

 

NATIVE PREFERENCE STATEMENT: Pursuant to the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act of 1975 (PL 93-638) and as further guided by CITC’s Native Preference Policy 6.120, CITC maintains preference in all phases of employment for Alaska Native, American Indian (AN/AI) and Native Hawaiian people, including direct lineal descendants and foster or traditionally adopted children. Also included are non-Native head of household members for Native families, which includes foster or traditionally adopted Native children.
