Job Overview
 

Responsible for assisting students in improving academic achievement by providing tutoring on a regular basis to clarify learning challenges, study skills, reviewing class material, discuss text, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers, or work on solutions to problems. Coordinates and facilitates life skill club(s) and cultural activities.

 

  • Pay: $23.13/hour plus an additional $4.57/hour (up to maximum of 40 hours per week) used to offset the cost of elected benefits
  • Retirement Plan: Eligible to participate in company 401(k) with Company matching after 1 year
  • Vacation: Minimum of ten days per year. Actual days are based upon your Service Date
  • Sick Time: Accrued sick time at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, capped at 56 hours per year
  • Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year


Responsibilities
 

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Meets with students on a one-to-one, small-group, or classroom tutoring format(s) to give learning assistance.
  • Contributes to a positive and productive learning environment to accomplish student goals and objectives.
  • Maintains student’s progress notes and shares those progress notes with supervisors, instructors.
  • Records student attendance for all tutoring sessions and reports if student(s) misses’ appointments or routinely arrives to their session late.
  • Relates to students with various academic levels and needs.
  • Facilitates learning as a guide and coach to assist the student to become a successful, independent learner.
  • Coordinates and organizes cultural activities with recreation department; motivate students to participate.
  • Develops and coordinates life skills club to educate and coach students for successful, independent living.
  • Cultivates and maintains a climate on Center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Maintains accountability of students and property; adheres to safety practices.
  • Promotes student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring, skills acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.


Job Requirements
 

Mandatory:

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two–year college.
  • One (1) year related experience working with youth.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug test.
