Pub Sound Tech:

 

Must be able to work evening and weekend hours.

Must be able to provide quality customer service to entertainers, as well as Pub patrons.

Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid Alaska Drivers License.

Must be musically inclined and have knowledge of sound and sound equipment experience.

 

Pub Attendant:

 

*MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE*

Must possess interpersonal communication skills; must be able to give a favorable impression to the public in appearance and behavior; adapt to changes in workload; work independently with limited supervision and in cooperation with other employees; be able to multitask and handle difficult/stressful situations with diplomacy and finesse; enforce State laws and University policies with regard to the sale and serving of alcoholic beverages and the preparation of food; monitoring and acting upon the consumption of alcohol by customers; cashiering; busing; cleaning and stocking; event participation; training's and staff meetings.

 

Pub Sound Tech:

Prior work experience with bi-amplified live sound reinforcement systems is preferred. On the job training will be provided.

 

Pub Attendant:

Applicants must have a current alcohol server's education course certificate and Alaska Food Worker card OR be able to complete an alcohol server's education course and pass the Alaska Food Worker test within 30 days of hire. Cost: ~$45 for both.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Pub Sound Tech:

 

Student employees at the Center for Student Engagement are expected to attend regular training and will be evaluated based on their performance on a semester basis. Pub Sound Technicians can expect regular training opportunities in sound reinforcement to enhance their skills and abilities in the job. Pub Sound Technicians will also be expected to research and learn independently about best practices in sound reinforcement, as well as the technical operation of sound equipment used in the Pub. Required to have TAP certification.

 

Applicants must be enrolled as a UAF student with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.

 

UA Board of Regents' Policy P09.05.020 states that in order to be eligible for student employment, graduate and undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment or have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours, and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters.

 

Pub Attendant:

 

Knowledge of duties and skills necessary to provide services and daily maintenance of the Pub, and the State laws regarding alcoholic beverages. Ability to communicate with the public and enforce State laws and University policies; give a favorable impression to the public in appearance and behavior; adapt to changes in workload; work with limited supervision and in cooperation with other employees; handle money responsibly; lift or maneuver heavy objects with ease; assist with planning and implementation of programs and activities; handle difficult situations with diplomacy and finesse. Required to have TAP certification.

 

Position Details:

 

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks. This is a Student Assistant 2 Position, minimum starting pay is $13.03 per hour.

 

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
