UAS Writing Center Student Tutor Pool 2023-2024

The Writing Center is seeking Juneau-based student writing tutors to work with UAS students. The job requires solid writing skills and the ability to coach students through all stages of the writing process, though we do provide training with our "grow-a-tutor" model. Perfect writing is not required, but a strong foundation and a willingness to learn are. A student tutor position is a great opportunity to improve mentoring skills, learn about tutoring/teaching strategies, and gain professional work experience. Student tutors are also involved in special projects run by the Writing Center such as writing contests and the publication of the in-house academic journal, Summit. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and filled as positions become available
Some tutoring experience preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
UAS writing intensive classes including WRTG211 or WRTG212.
Position Details:
This is a Student Assistant 2 position with minimum starting pay of $14.38 per hour (UA Student Salary Schedule Step 13)
This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
