Student Services is a great first stop for prospective students. Student Services offers students help with registration, admissions, financial aid, academic advising, and more! The Student Services Assistant will be essential in providing the department support with these services.

Student workers may be asked to work days & evenings to include weekends depending on the needs of the department. Schedule will be discussed at time of interview.

 

To thrive in this position, you must have the ability to be proactive and work independently. You will serve as a positive role model and an active team player in establishing an atmosphere conducive to academic success and fostering a sense of belonging for our students, faculty, staff and community members. You must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.). Showcase effective written and verbal communication skills. Emphasize strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff and community members. Express a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges. You should have the ability to pay close attention to detail, work in an organized manner, follow instructions, and work without close supervision. Additionally, you must act professionally and maintain confidentiality and security over information. You will have the opportunity to develop and learn new skills while working with diverse groups.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

• Computer skills and data entry experience.

• Must be enrolled with a minimum of 6 credit hours and maintain a minimum of 2.0 cumulative GPA.

• Applicants must be at a minimum 18 years of age to be considered due to FERPA regulations and the handling of confidential documents required of the position.

 

Position Details:

 

This is a student employee position, with a starting pay rate of https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/files/FY24-Student-Pay-Grid.pdf. Hours are limited to 20 per week maximum during instructional periods of the academic year. During summer term, full-time hours may be available depending on needs and budget of the department.

 

Preference will be given to qualified candidates who have been awarded and have accepted their federal work study funds for the academic year.
