The University of Alaska Fairbanks North Star College Advising Specialist works with a collaborative team consisting of both the UAF Office of Dual Enrollment and the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District personnel. This position will act as the expert advisor for North Star College dual enrolled students, providing resources, support and enrollment guidance.
To excel in this role, you must possess strong organizations skills. You'll actively engage in collaborative efforts with campus-wide departments and the school district to promote student success. Additionally, your expertise in specialized advising will be crucial as you provide comprehensive guidance to dual enrolled students, offering resources, interpreting assessments, and assisting with academic guidance while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to institutional regulations like FERPA.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. May require appropriate or applicable certification. Master's degree preferred.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/files/fy24_staff_salary_grid.pdf, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
