The University of Alaska Southeast Office of the Bursar and Student Accounts is looking to provide an enriching work experience to students interested in exploring the business, banking or accounting fields of study.

 

This position involves determining and processing moderately complex tuition and fee transactions on two computer systems, sometimes with customers waiting. Important skills and abilities for the role are: customer service, business-professional writing skills, a basic understanding of accounting, an understanding of professional filing methods, and familiarity with the right to privacy regulations.

 

To thrive in this role an applicant should have a willingness to learn. Some cash handling experience may be helpful.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for employment as a student assistant, an applicant must:

 

a) be enrolled in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or

 

b) have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and

 

c) have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the chancellor or the chancellor's designee.

 

Position Details:

 

This is a part-time Student Assistant 2 (UA Step 13, $13.11/hourly), 20 hours/weekly, position with the Student Accounts Office. All applicants must have a 2.0 GPA and maintain enrollment in at least 6 undergraduate credit hours, or 6 graduate credit hours for student employment during the academic year.
