The Alaska Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program provides a pathway for students to prepare for and enter into healthcare careers, leading them into the workforce and supporting their continued development. We are accepting applications for a Temporary Education Coordinator position. This position will establish relationships with external agencies to set up and expand community-based experiential learning opportunities for AHEC Scholars and other College of Health students. This role will begin in April and continue until August 31, 2024.

This position will support the Alaska Center for Rural Health and Health Workforce, by expanding experiential learning opportunities for AHEC Scholars and other College of Health students. The position will develop relationships with local organizations to coordinate placement sites for community-based experiential learning.

To thrive in this role, applicants should have strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and an adaptable mindset. An ability to work independently while coordinating, organizing information, planning events, and scheduling for multiple individuals. Possess effective communication skills that build solid interpersonal relations. Able to demonstrate respect, active listening, confidentiality, and empathy when interacting with others.

Other skills that would benefit this position include:
General understanding of office practices and procedures, file maintenance, and basic office software knowledge and skills, e.g., Microsoft Office and Google Suites.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of college coursework, and one year of progressively responsible experience in education, public health, or related field. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in education, public health, or a related field.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, temporary position, paying $24.43 hourly.
