The successful candidate will work closely with our PhD and MD faculty to deliver the first 15 months of the WWAMI School of Medicine curriculum, which integrates basic and clinical sciences and emphasizes early clinical care training.

This is a term faculty position at 51% FTE, requiring the ability to commit to 21 weeks and be available during class times. As we expand to accommodate 25 students per year, we are looking for a dedicated educator to teach and facilitate in our active learning classroom environment. The successful candidate will work closely with our PhD and MD faculty to deliver the first 15 months of the WWAMI School of Medicine curriculum, which integrates basic and clinical sciences and emphasizes early clinical care training.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree, along with board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or an internationally recognized entity. Clinical training and 3-5 years of experience in a primary care field or a medical field that provides care across multiple organ systems is preferred. Familiarity with the WWAMI program and active clinical practice in the local area are highly desirable. To excel in this role, the candidate should demonstrate strong teaching skills, the ability to facilitate active learning in a team-based setting, and proficiency in basic computer skills, including email, calendar management, video conferencing, and learning technology software such as Canvas.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution. Additionally, the candidate must be board-certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties or an internationally recognized entity of comparable standing. Preference will be given to candidates who maintain an active clinical practice within the local community.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Anchorage campus. This position is located on the main UAA campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a part-time, 9-month (with expected 1.5 month summer contract extension), term-funded faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, faculty time off, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage, and representation under a Collective Bargaining Agreement. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 30, based on education and experience.
