Matanuska-Susitna College is seeking an Academic Affairs Office Director. This role assists the College Director with strategic planning, community outreach, academic and instructional support, and overall campus management. This position is responsible the effective administration of all academic and administrative matters for the Academic Affairs unit of the college.

The Office of Academic Affairs provides assistance to faculty on assessment, course development, instructional resources, professional development opportunities, and University policies and regulations and coordinates the development of each semester's schedule of course offerings, including community and workforce education. It supports student success by advocating for student interests, providing testing and tutoring services in the Learning Center, and responding to student code of conduct issues as they arise.

This position reports to the Mat-Su College Director and is responsible for the effective administration of all academic and administrative matters for Mat-Su College's Academic Affairs.

The Director of Academic Affairs provides strategic leadership within the instructional environment of Mat-Su College. This position is expected to perform his or her role as a member of the executive team by combining a faculty member's perspective with sensitivity to student needs. This position facilitates program development, assessment, and the course schedule and performs a key instructional support role. This position also fulfills compliance related tasks.

As a member of Mat-Su College's executive team, this position participates in setting direction and advocating for Matanuska-Susitna College, promoting the college as an active participant in the area's economic development and a principal contributor in the quality of life in the community.

To thrive in this role, the individual will practice a student-centered approach to higher education, possess expert planning and leadership skills, and exhibit a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ability to advocate, communicate, lead, and mediate effectively with others is essential as this position works with students, faculty, and staff. Furthermore, a demonstrated commitment to the community campus mission within a wider university system, knowledge of college policies, procedures, and academic processes, and respect for the shared governance structure is helpful for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Master's degree, 2 years administrative experience, & a minimum of 3 years college level teaching experience.

It is preferred the applicant has an earned Doctoral degree & the following experience: five years administrative experience showing increased responsibility, demonstrated successful administrative and personnel management in a post-secondary setting; experience in a community campus institution with a diverse body of faculty, staff, & students (both traditional & non-traditional); substantial college level teaching; assessment, accreditation procedures, e-learning, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures typical of a community campus, & faculty governance.

Position Details:

This position is located on the https://matsu.alaska.edu/about/ in Palmer, Alaska. This is a full-time, 12-month, term-funded, non-represented faculty administration position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php.
