The Office of Grants & Contracts is actively looking for a Grant Analyst with a comprehensive skill set to thrive in a multifaceted role that demands a combination of technical proficiency, financial acumen, and strong interpersonal qualities. As a Post Award Analyst you have a dynamic role managing various aspects of grant administration, financial reporting, and collaboration with stakeholders. Your responsibilities include maintaining detailed grant records, handling financial reports, managing setups within Banner, and serving as a point of contact for both stakeholders and agencies.

Your daily routine involves attending department meetings, reviewing Banner Workflow for requisitions from Procurement, managing incoming action items via email or management, and handling billing for your portfolio. It's great that you collaborate with OGCA Executive Management to provide guidance to investigators, staff, and sponsors on available support mechanisms and their respective obligations. Your role also involves analyzing information, identifying concerns, proposing resolutions, and evaluating implications.

Given the importance of maintaining financial reporting, billing, and compliance for projects, your diligent attention to detail is crucial in ensuring the success of the Office of Grants & Contracts.

To excel in the role of a Post Award Analyst, being a self-starter is paramount, necessitating the ability to take initiative and work independently. Effective time management is crucial in a high-volume environment, requiring proficiency in utilizing Google and Microsoft Suite programs. Strong written and verbal communication skills are indispensable for engaging with stakeholders and effectively conveying complex information to diverse audiences. Financial management skills are showcased through the meticulous maintenance of cost principles during the invoicing process within the Banner system. Strong organizational skills are vital in this deadline-driven environment, ensuring tasks are prioritized and executed efficiently. Detailed record-keeping is emphasized, serving not only for audit responses but also for addressing financial discrepancies while adhering to project terms, UA Policy, and accounting principles. Interpersonal skills play a pivotal role, as the role necessitates drawing on experiences to provide professional and empathetic customer service, establishing positive relationships with both campus and funding agencies. Analytical thinking is a critical competency, involving the ability to analyze information, identify concerns, propose resolutions, and evaluate implications. Relationship building is a key aspect, requiring the maintenance of positive connections with stakeholders, agencies, and team members. Strong research skills are integral, enabling the gathering of information and identification of financial discrepancies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 5 years progressively responsible professional or management fiscal experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a research environment for higher education. Working knowledge of UA systems,
procedures, practices, as well as, State of Alaska and Federal regulations relating to federal and state major programs. Proficient knowledge of interfacing software, including knowledge of reports and querying of data.

Proficiency with financial operations, automated accounting system(s), word processing, creation and manipulation of spreadsheets, querying of database information, and financial reconciliations required. Working knowledge of GAAP, CAS, OMB circulars and Statewide Accounting Manual.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAF campus in Fairbanks, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations.
