Afognak Native Corporation has an opportunity for a Land Security Officer.  Duties include but are not limited to providing support to the Land Security Program by monitoring Afognak Native Corporation's land holdings through marine and land based patrols.

  • Patrol of Corporation lands located in the northern Kodiak Island Archipelago covered under a Joint Land Use policy and enforcement of the Lands Use Regulations.
  • Assist in planning and implementing the land patrol and enforcement activities for all Afognak Native Corporation and other land holdings as assigned.
  • Maintain daily report of activities and report observed activities while on patrol to appropriate senior management.
  • Assist in creating documentation of all trespass activities on corporate lands that might be required to issue civil or criminal citations to violators of Joint Land Use policies as necessary.
  • Assist in informing and promoting the Lands Use Plan to the known users of Corporation lands and the general public.
  • Work with public law enforcement officials in Afognak Native Corporation lands use related issues.
  • Install and maintain signs and other public notices related to the Land Use Plan and other Corporation land issues.
  • Document and report observed activities while on patrol to the appropriate senior management.
  • Occasional trail maintenance/repair as needed to conduct patrol activities.
  • Provide recommendations for possible improvements to the Land Use Program.
  • Must maintain a neat appearance while working for and representing Afognak Native Corporation.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor and be polite at all times.
  • Clothing with Corporate identification will be provided by ANC and maintained by the employee.
  • And all other duties as assigned.

Pay rate: $20.00 to $28.00 Hourly

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk, run, bend, climb and perform intense physical activities while in the performance of their duties.
  • Must be able to pass an initial and annual Physical Fitness Test
  • Required to obtain and maintain annual firearms qualification.
  • Required to complete and pass a First Aid-CPR class.
  • Able to provide a clean criminal history/background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a corporation approved Security Officer Training program.
  • Must be able to obtain a State of Alaska, Armed Security Guard License upon completion of the Security Officer Training Program.
  • Periodic travel, both in-state and out-of-state, may be required.
  • Must be timely in performance of job responsibilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License and able to qualify as an authorized driver under the Corporation’s established auto and insurance policy requirements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Law enforcement, security, or other related experience.
  • USCG Masters license or ability to obtain one.
