JOB OVERVIEW

Gana-A'Yoo, Limited (GYL) is seeking a GL Accountant to perform accounting tasks in collaboration with internal departments. You will be conducting reviews on the accuracy of our financial information, providing assurance that our accounting practices adhere to GAAP, and perform general ledger entries and account reconciliations.

To ensure success as a GL Accountant, you should demonstrate knowledge of best practices in general ledger accounting and experience in a similar role. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end general ledger reconciliations and routine journal entries, which may include; cash, accounts receivable, inventory, prepaid, intercompany, fixed assets, intangible assets, marketable securities, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, payroll liabilities, long-term debt, and equity
  • Creating and maintaining all monthly reconciling schedules, which may include; bank reconciliation, accounts receivable aging schedules, inventory valuation schedules, fixed asset depreciation schedules, amortization schedules, investment reconciliations, accounts payable vendor schedules, debt amortization schedules, and equity reconciliations
  • Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information
  • Performing reviews on financial data to assure its accuracy and truthfulness
  • Ensuring that financial information complies with GAAP
  • Aligning general ledger accounting practices to support budgeting and forecasting
  • Assisting with year-end audit preparation and financial statements
  • Assisting with special projects, including policy and procedure development and accounting system improvements
  • Keeping abreast of regulatory GAAP requirements and best practices in accounting

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's in accounting or other related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of related public/private accounting experience
  • Experience using Deltek Costpoint, preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous experience in Alaska Native Corporations preferred
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The GL Accountant will primarily work in an office setting. The office environment is professional, collaborative, and conducive to focused work. The typical office amenities and equipment, including computer, phones, and other necessary tools, will be provided.

GYL is an Alaska Native-Owned Village Corporation serving its more than 2,000 Native shareholders and four villages located along the Yukon River. Alaska Native Corporations are the result of the passage of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, which was signed into law in 1971. The act was intended to resolve long-standing issues surrounding aboriginal land claims, to stimulate economic development throughout Alaska, as well as to settle land and financial claims.
