Position Summary:
The Theatre and Dance Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking applicants for an Event Support Technician. This role directly supports events in the Fine Arts Building helping them to operate smoothly both in front of house and behind the scenes. This position is open internally to current UA employees or those otherwise eligible to apply to internal postings.

Production is at the very center of our award-winning Theatre & Dance program. Each season we produce plays and dance concerts in our Mainstage Theatre and Jerry Harper Studio Theatre. From ordering and/or picking up materials for the production shops to supervising and training student workers to rigging lights, this position will keep you busy managing the scene, prop, and costume shops. You'll manage the Box Office as well as assist with lighting, sound, and management of the three performance venues in the Fine Arts Building.

To be successful in this role, you should have a background in Event Production, Box office Management, and House Management. Having knowledge of or familiarity with electronics, carpentry, rigging, and technical theatre is essential. You should be able to supervise student workers, and keep yourself and the shop organized while meeting deadlines. Work schedule may include evening or weekend hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

Event Production experience as well as experience working in a Front of House position for a performing arts center. Experience as a construction coordinator or Master Electrician, and have experience in constructing scenery for theatre or film and theatrical rigging systems. Must possess a valid Alaska driver's license (must meet and maintain UA safe driver verification criteria).

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, AK. Flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations.
