Position Summary:
Are you a motivated, self managing individual who wants to help recruit, advise and support Alaska's next generation of K12 educators? Do you want to use your people skills to support both traditional and non-traditional students on their educational journeys? We would love for you to join us at the Anchorage based offices of the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Education.

The UAF School of Education delivers high quality teacher and counselor education programs to students throughout the state of Alaska, including in Southcentral! We maintain a small office on the UAA campus with Anchorage based faculty members from all our departments. We're looking for a new Anchorage based education program academic advisor and support person to work with our Southcentral based students, faculty and education stakeholders. The UAF School of Education maintains accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Some of the things you can look forward to doing in this position include attending Southcentral area recruitment events to share information about our programs, working with students both face to face and through Zoom, phone and e-mail to determine their educational goals and map and execute a rewarding and efficient educational journey, managing the Anchorage-based work spaces for the UAF School of Education, and helping Southcentral based students and faculty interface with K12 education districts and stakeholders in the region. A solid understanding of the K12 education landscape in the Southcentral region would be a real plus! This position allows for semi-regular (2-3x a year) travel to the UAF Fairbanks campus.

Our ideal candidate will have previous or current experience working in higher education OR college experience as a student in a teacher education program. They will be familiar with program advising processes, particularly in higher education, or possess the ability to learn those processes expeditiously. The education or training requirements for the position include a Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, and relevant academic experience in a college environment or other schools.

Minimum Qualifications:

Previous or current experience working in higher education OR college experience as a student in a teacher education program. The length of time depends on the individual assessment of current knowledge and experience with impacting decisions on students.

Typical Education or Training: Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Relevant academic experience in a college environment or other schools.

Position Details:

This is a Grade 79 full time 12 month position, located in Anchorage, Alaska. The job allows for 1 or 2 work from home days per week, with an approved work modality plan in place, and a reduced time contract will be considered (between 10-12 months).
