Elder Mentor (Serve in your local community)
RurAL CAP
Are you 55+ and interested in giving back to your community? Join the Elder Mentor Program! As an Elder Mentor you will serve at your local school, Head Start, or Afterschool program to mentor youth. Elder Mentors can help youth with reading and math, develop cultural connections, teach native languages, and support the social emotional growth of youth. Elder Mentors recieve a small tax-free stipend ($4/hour), which is NOT counted as income on any federal assistance programs. Our program reimburses for mileage and meals during your service hours. We also provide opportunities to come into Anchorage for trainings. This is a statewide program, you can serve in your home community whereever you live!
