Requisition# 19000346 - Light Duty Mechanic - Kuparuk Field Services - Light Duty Shop Prudhoe Bay, Alaska


The Light Duty Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light construction vehicles and equipment. This position may supervise apprentice workers engaged in vehicle and equipment repair work.



  • Inspect light vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.

  • Repair light construction vehicles and equipment such as large volume pumps and compressors, passenger vans, light duty pickup trucks, welding trucks, medium duty service trucks, and other auxiliary equipment.

  • Adjust, repair, and replace engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, breaks, suspension, steering, and transmissions.

  • Disassemble and assemble vehicles and equipment parts using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic and electric tools and instruments.

  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes in accordance with maintenance schedules.

  • Operate vehicles and equipment to diagnose and ensure operating efficiency.

  • Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.

  • Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records that meet OEM warranty requirements.

  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.

  • Supervise apprentice workers engaged in light vehicle and equipment repair work.

  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.

  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.



High school diploma or GED with a minimum of four (4) years related training and experience required. A combination of training and experience may substitute the diploma requirement. Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment preferred. GM and Dodge Ram Light and Medium Duty repair and Maintenance experience preferred. Fleet Focus fleet management system experience preferred. 



ASE Certification or OEM Technician Certification required. North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification and valid driver’s license required.

A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:                                                               


  • Meet the AES Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy. 

  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.                         

  • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.

  • Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.
