Internship Partner Program


Cook Inlet Tribal Council’s Internship Program aligns with our overarching mission of working with Alaska Native and American Indian people to develop educational opportunities that fulfill our endless potential. Through a network of community partners, CITC provides valuable work experience for building future leaders through a variety of fields of study. Program internships offer students in good academic standing opportunities for gaining real-life work experience and applying their education in professional work environments, bridging the gap between students and working professionals. CITC recruits highly motivated full- or part-time students* and recent graduates from undergraduate or graduate degree programs or technical training schools in the following disciplines:

  • Accounting / Finance / Economics / Business Management
  • Social Work / Sociology / Psychology / Nursing
  • Information Technology / Computer Science
  • Engineering / ANSEP Participants / STEM
  • Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) Industry related areas of study
  • Construction / Project Management
    * Fab Lab internships are available for qualified high school students

CITC Internship Partnership Program

CITC’s Internship Partnership program is a 12-week summer program for Alaska Native and American Indian college and vocational education students. Along with receiving on-the-job training and mentorship,  interns will have engaging and exciting opportunities to learn through working with CITC and our partnering organizations, and in the community, through tours and various activities. As part of their development, interns will be required to give a presentation to CITC management and partnering organizations on their experience prior to completion of their internship. The summer will be packed with both leadership and professional development sessions infused with cultural gatherings and fun social activities!

Candidates must be currently enrolled as a full- or part-time student, or a recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate degree program or technical school in a related field.

Internship Timeline

  • Recruitment and Application Submission Period: December 15, 2018 – March 15, 2019
  • Application Packet Deadline: March 15, 2019
  • Preliminary Interviews: March 18 – March 22, 2019
  • Final Selection / Notification to Final Candidates: March 29, 2019
  • Internship Orientation in Anchorage, Alaska: May 20, 2019
  • Internship Period: May 20 – August 9, 2019
  • End of Internship Presentations and Exit Interviews: August 5 – August 9, 2019

How to Apply

When available, the application package must contain the following:

  • completed CITC Internship Application 2019
  • current resume or equivalent job experience
  • personal statement/cover letter
  • copy of official college transcripts (to include Fall 2018 semester/term/quarter upon completion)
  • two (2) letters of recommendation (dated within the past 12 months of application)

Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab)

CITC offers internship opportunities for both college and high school students in our digital fabrication resource center (Fab Lab). Created in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Fab Lab is a state of the art educational space that challenges youth to connect to their full science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) potential. CITC will recruit interns currently enrolled in high school or college, or who have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program or technical training school.

Eligibility

  • Internship applicants must be Alaska Native or American Indian pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act and able to show proof of residence in the Cook Inlet Region. Alaska Native or American Indian CIRI shareholders are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Currently enrolled as a full or part-time student, or recently graduated from an undergraduate/graduate degree program/technical school in a related degree field.
  • Fab Lab internships are available to qualified high school students.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
