Position Summary:

The UAF Office of Admissions is hiring a Transfer Credit Evaluator to evaluate incoming transcripts and communicate regularly with students in a fast-paced environment. In addition to the evaluation of coursework, evaluators review and post credit for advanced placement testing, credit for military educational experience, and license and certificate credit. Evaluators are responsible for maintaining a high output of work while providing excellent customer service in person, by phone, and by email. Independent research and problem-solving skills are crucial to be successful in this position, along with strong communication skills.

 

Duties:

1-60REVIEW, EVALUATE AND POST TRANSFER CREDIT Research the accreditation status, grading system, course levels, and degree program contexts for all transcripts submitted on a student's behalf to UAF from other universities and colleges. Using multiple resources, independently judge transfer equivalency for courses on a transcript and determine the UAF equivalency. Evaluate and post transfer work from non-traditional sources, including AP, CLEP, DSST, licenses and certificates, military service, and prior learning experiences. Maintain a strong working knowledge of international credential evaluation processes. Post graduate level transfer courses, once approved by Graduate Advisory Committees. Perform pre-evaluations for NCAA Compliance. Post credit for students participating in National Student Exchange (NSE) or International Student Exchange (ISE).Essential 20COMMUNICATE WITH STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF Serve as a resource for all questions pertaining to UAF's transfer credit evaluation processes. Provide information and support on all inquiries regarding transferability of credits, coursework, test scores, and non-traditional credit, including explaining why courses did not transfer or meet certain requirements, or other requests relating to transfer credit. Work with faculty as needed for course and exam equivalencies within specific departments. Assist Graduation Services and other Departments with urgent transfer credit requests. Work collaboratively with the Admissions Processing Team and Admissions Counselors to support transfer students.Essential 3-10PROCESS IMPROVEMENT Work with the Transfer Credit Team to update practices and policies as needed. Be involved in process improvement discussions. Work collaboratively with other teams in Admissions to create seamless processes and improve the student experience. Provide regular feedback regarding current processes and any suggestions for improvement.Essential 4-5SYSTEMS TESTING, MAINTENANCE AND PROJECTS Responsible for in-depth testing for regular system upgrades to the administrative software programs (Banner and OnBase) and making recommendations for corrections and enhancements. Participate in University of Alaska Statewide Transfer CreditEssential 5UPDATE AND MAINTAIN RECORDS AND POLICIES Maintain confidentiality of records as required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Update student records with a student's transfer credit equivalency report. Maintain high ethical standards while performing course articulations and posting transfer credit.

Typical Experience:

Minimum of two years of experience working in a postsecondary education student services or equivalent customer service environment. Experience in analyzing and solving problems, multi-tasking, working independently and as a member of a team. Computer, data entry experience.

 

Required Education or Training:

Associate degree and two or more years of relevant experience in a postsecondary education student services or customer service environment, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor degree preferred.

 

Salary Information:

 

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://alaska.edu/jobs/benefits.php.
