Position Summary:

The College of Engineering is seeking Temporary Research Technicians to assist with grant funded research projects. This posting is for a pool from which researchers at the College of Engineering will draw from when research technicians are needed to work on externally funded projects on a temporary basis. The position may be part-time or full-time. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer of employment.

 

Duties:

Duties will vary according to the project and the level of technician work to be done. Work may be done in the laboratory or in the field. Work is temporary and may be part-time or full-time.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Proficiency in computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, faculty and staff. Knowledge of data collection procedures, data entry procedures and computerized spreadsheets and databases. Ability to manipulate data to produce charts and graphs to display trends in data. Ability to interpret data results for reporting.

 

Typical Experience:

Varies on level needed for each temporary position:

Research Technician 1: High school graduation and 6 months of experience in a field relevant to research or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Research Technician 2: 1 year of relevant college coursework and 1 year of experience in relevant field or equivalent combination training and experience.

Research Technician 3: 2 years of relevant college coursework and 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Research Technician 4: Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Required Education or Training:

Research Technician 1: High school graduation and 6 months of experience in a field relevant to research or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Research Technician 2: 1 year of relevant college coursework and 1 year of experience in relevant field or equivalent combination training and experience.

Research Technician 3: 2 years of relevant college coursework and 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Research Technician 4: Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Salary Information:

Minimum Hourly Rates (Temporary Staff Salary Schedule)

Research Technician 1: $16.15/hour

Research Technician 2: $18.18/hour

Research Technician 3: $20.47/hour

Research Technician 4: $22.36/hour
