Position Summary:

Bethel 4-H programs are looking for energetic, responsible, and passionate people looking to make an impact and create lifelong bonds. Join a team of after-school Educators in rural Alaska. Help kids connect and discover their passion for learning as you get paid to make a difference! Be a part of the Program Coordinators team that will co-manage 4-H outside of school time programs and serve as a contact person for its participants. In this position you will guide and support 4-H members with club and project work, organize the 4-H outside of school time clubs by coordinating leaders, members and their families to determine a plan of the club's activities and to determine resources needed to carry out the plan.

Duties:

PROCEDURAL: Assist in maintaining communications and calendar for 4-H in the Bethel District by way of the Remind app, website and FaceBook. Keep apprised of UAF policy and procedures, maintain the program within the boundaries of these. Participate in statewide 4-H staff meetings. Comply with UA Protection of Minors regulations to cultivate a safe youth development district program. Coordinate with Program Administrator and UAF Risk services on any special insurance needed for various community events. Ensure compliance with university finance processes, administrative regulations, and safety protocols. Ensure club fundraising follows UA protocols, and keep receipts for tax purposes. Assist with the development of the Bethel 4-H annual activities report.

PROGRAMMING: Lead youth development program by planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the Bethel 4-H program. Utilize the existing 4-H curriculum. Deliver center programs a minimum of 4 times a week. Maintain cleanliness and organization of materials and facilities. Work with 4-H families and local organizations to encourage our participants through experiential learning opportunities. Serve as a bridge and liaison between 4-H families and our community and state.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:Knowledge of youth development training principles, equipment and materials
Strong computer software skills including social media, web pages, Google Suite (Docs, Sheets,Calendar, Mail), and/or MS Office.
Ability to apply knowledge of the operation of audiovisual and laboratory equipment, and of media and computer-aided training.
Ability to conduct classroom training, workshops or seminars.
Ability to use video, audio and other types of equipment to present training.
Ability to plan and organize adult and/or child education training and facilitation activities; and to plan and evaluate training activities.
Ability to lead.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Knowledge of UAF, Cooperative Extension Service and most importantly the 4-H program.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to work some nights and weekends.TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Experience working with youth.
Experience in planning and organizing

Cross cultural experience.
Experience working with media, social media and
web pages.
1+ years experience in training and development
or education.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Associate degree in related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience working with volunteers, particularly in a leadership role
Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
CPR/First Aid Certification

SALARY INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, term, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 77, minimum $30.10/hour, based on education and experience. UA employees receive excellent benefits including participation in State of Alaska PERS retirement, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.

Term Position:
