Position Summary:

This recruitment is to fill temporary (on call) maintenance/custodial positions to maintain and ensure the safe and clean physical operation of Northwest Campus facilities. This position will provide back-up and additional coverage for the permanent custodian.

Duties:

Assists in Maintaining Facilities: Custodial services to include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and vacuuming of hallways and office/classroom space; clean restrooms, remove trash, empty & clean garbage containers; complete minor related maintenance activities; observe and notify supervisor concerning need for major repairs; lift and carry supplies and facility equipment. Maintain grounds, including snow, ice and debris removal; operate equipment (BobCat, snow blower) to facilitate seasonal grounds maintenance. Keep campus staff and public aware of safety hazards.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to work in a group setting including following instructions given by a Lead or Supervisor; relating in a positive manner to management and other employees; and assisting in providing a productive and safe work environment. Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to read and interpret documents and apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, lift and use a ladder.
Ability to lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
