Position Summary:

The School of Nursing is seeking applications for a Skills Lab Assistant. This position will help to ensure the Nursing Resource Center runs smoothly.

Duties:

Responsible for daily setup/cleanup and/or direction of student workers in daily setup/cleanup of the nursing skills labs. Assign daily tasks to student workers. Coordinate and schedule open labs for students. Conduct training for student, staff and faculty. Maintain, update and/or create skills lab setup documents. Maintain schedules of labs and lab setup documents, which include lists and numbers of supplies and equipment needed for each lab course in all nursing programs. Responsible for scheduling or coordinating lab activities and/or assist faculty in the development, implementation, and integration of laboratory experience for students under supervision. Assist the NRC Coordinator as needed with scheduling lab activities. Assist students with supplies/equipment during open labs. Maintain student computers, run virus scan updates, load/unload software, and troubleshoot problems for VitalSim electronic manikin software. Order and maintain accurate inventory of lab supplies. Assist instructors with various needs during labs. Assist with School of Nursing simulations as needed. Various other duties as assigned by NRC Coordinator.

Position Summary:
The Nursing Resource Center (NRC) skills labs are supervised by the NRC Coordinator and operate with the assistance of a Skills Lab Assistant and student workers. This position helps to ensure the NRC runs smoothly by leading/directing student workers, setting up and cleaning up scheduled labs, keeping inventory, assisting nursing students during open labs, and various other duties as assigned by the NRC Coordinator. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience providing guidance to untrained/new staff
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and Google Drive functions/apps
  • Knowledge of nursing/healthcare field and familiarity with medical equipment/supplies
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Experience or knowledge of laboratory testing, protocol, or procedures
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands associated with a busy laboratory environment

Typical Experience:
Minimum of six months experience in a healthcare setting or as a certified healthcare worker (CNA, LPN, etc.). 

Required Education/Training:

  • Associate's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Healthcare certification preferred (CNA, CMA, LPN, etc.).

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts:

  • Light to moderate physical effort which may require lifting and/or some standing or walking.
  • Work is performed in a busy lab and office setting.

Assignment Information:
This is a full-time, Grade 77, minimum $21.81 hourly, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
