Essential Functions (Phone and Text Line)
- Implement policies, protocols, and services designed to assist individuals who are thinking of or planning to commit suicide, are impacted by someone with suicidal behavior, or who are experiencing a crisis that without assistance, may turn into suicidal behavior. Services are provided via phone call or text messaging.
- Respond to each crisis call by providing appropriate crisis intervention services.
- Implement call triage to manage multiple calls.
- Screen all calls for lethality; respond to suicide calls by providing appropriate intervention.
- Maintain client confidentiality except in cases where client needs must be communicated to appropriate staff and emergency personnel.
- Provide support, information, and referral for non-crisis calls.
- Maintain accurate records of lethality assessments and client information.
- Other duties as assigned by the Careline Program Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School, GED, or life experience that allows them to fulfill the essential functions required.
- Excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills.
- Commitment to the agency's mission and goals.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Proficient with computers and ability to do data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Human Services or a closely related field. Prior work or life experience may be used in lieu of the degree (2 Years).
- Bachelors Degree in Social Working or closely related field or 4 years of prior work experience (would count as 2 preferences).
- Two years prior experience working in a suicide intervention call center, not used for prior preferences.
Supervision: Directly responsible to the Careline Coordinator.
Hours: Full time 40 hours per week – Shift work to cover 24/7 call center, occasional overtime.
Salary: Range 22 Non-Exempt -- ($19.80 - $22.27) per hour DOE.
