Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet or exceed these minimum job requirements to apply for this position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Two years’ experience as a maintenance or design engineer
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of Engineering, with emphasis on oil and gas infrastructure or facilities engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, codes, practices, and procedures within discipline area
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferences:

  • Master of Science in Engineering
  • Eight (8) years of related work experience in the application of engineering principles for the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of petrochemical physical infrastructure and/or building HVAC needs
  • Experience in HVAC design, mechanical/piping, and/or structural engineering
  • Technical problem solving, data management, trend analysis and troubleshooting skills without need of direct supervision
  • Trans Alaska Pipeline System experience
  • Knowledge and application of ASME, ASHRAE, ASTM, API, and/or ASCE 7‐10, IEBC codes and standards
  • Ability to work independently and to perform successfully in a team environment
  • Experience performing and/or managing maintenance and construction work in arctic and subarctic environments
  • Ability to coordinate and interact with Operations, Maintenance, Projects and contractors
  • Completion of Arctic Engineering coursework
  • Registered Professional Engineer

Accountabilities & Specific Requirements:

Under the general direction of the Operations and Maintenance Engineering Supervisor, the Engineer is accountable for the following job role:

  • Ability to operate independently and make sound engineering decisions and recommendations without the benefit of supporting resources.
  • Identify problems affecting operations, recommend solutions and work with maintenance and projects to assure appropriate implementation.
  • Put together minor modification work order packages; do both the project engineer and discipline engineer duties associated with the work.
  • Solicit support from other engineering teams as needed. Ensure that scope of work for engineering support adequately describes the asset needs.
  • Investigate equipment failures and submit written breakdown reports.
  • Develop awareness of plant performance to spot trends, bottlenecks, and substandard equipment performance.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Propose and provide justification for plant improvements in a timely manner to support a multi‐year project cycle.
  • Identify future major maintenance activities for the TAPS long range plan.
  • Support facility start‐ups / shutdowns and other unusual operations including final field review of engineered changes for startup.
  • Establish and maintain technical operating parameters and design basis.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Expectations for the successful candidate for this job include logical thinkers who are multi task oriented, well organized, efficient at information processing, and have the ability to consistently make critical decisions quickly and correctly. They must have the ability to perform effectively under stress, both working alone and with others on a multi discipline engineering team to tackle difficult problems.

PreEmployment Drug Screen Testing:

  • Alyeska Pipeline Service Company (APSC) requires pre‐employment drug testing utilizing hair test collections for all positions. The preferred collection site is from the head (approximately 1/2 inch of hair length necessary). Head hair testing provides an approximate 90 day window of detection that checks for drug use. In addition, for Department of Transportation covered positions, APSC will also utilize urinalysis testing. Any positive drug test makes you ineligible for APSC employment.
