What can you expect?
As the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Scientist II, you will work onsite in Alaska and you will utilize their knowledge to participate in collecting, synthesizing, and documenting data regarding the potential impacts of proposed projects/actions on the natural and built environment. Other responsibilities you will have will include coordination of reviews of the proposed projects/actions by multiple environmental program subject matter experts and integrate their input into the preparation of Categorical Exclusion, Record of Environmental Conditions (REC), and other basic NEPA documentation, including Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs). Your personal initiative and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. Assignments are deadline driven so must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment. You will be required to do field rotations for several weeks to remote job locations. Field work is typically seven days a week for ten hours a day. If not in the field, you will work out of the designated office.
*This position is onsite in Alaska, we welcome applicants from the Lower 48 who are interested in relocating to Alaska.
