Job Title: Director/Sr. Director of Career Development

General Functions:
The Director/Sr. Director of Career Development (CD) is a strategic partner whose primary role is to work with the COO to build partnerships in the community to connect people to resources and potential both within CITC and with external partners/employers. The CD Director/Sr. Director provides oversight, management, and leadership to CD to connect individuals to employment and employment preparation opportunities, including education and training, supportive services, and internships.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the COO to develop and manage a strategic plan and balanced scorecard for CD defining and measuring goals and strategies for achievement.
- Oversee overall functions of CD including workforce development, employee development and career management, staff training and professional development.
- Oversee workforce development programming including internships and apprenticeships that provide progressive experience through on the job training, development and coaching.
- In coordination with the CD Manager/Sr. Manager, develop and oversee program contracts, audits and evaluations.
- Oversee applicant and participant tracking procedures, reporting and data maintenance.
- Ensure CD team is Mission and Vision focused and models CITC’s values and supports CITC’s ThriveAbility plan.
- Develop and oversee operating budget for the CD Department. In coordination with the CD Manager/Sr. Manager, oversee and account for program revenue, expenses and reporting.
- Provide strategic direction to assist leadership with workforce related issues or concerns.
- Prepare and present strategic information to senior leadership and the Board.
- Convene, organize and lead the Career Development Advisory Council Meetings and maintain positive working relationships with contributing members.
- Serve as a strategic contributor and active member of the CITC Leadership Council (CLC).
- Ensure all AKP programs meet state and federal goals, objectives and reporting requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between granting agencies and program participants.
- Maintain confidentiality according to regulations and procedures.
- Steps up into the Acting CAO role as necessary.
CD Strategic Partnerships:
- Work closely with the CLC to provide leadership and support to assist in solving problems and enhancing program services across systems.
- Maintain and enhance relationships with various government agencies at the local, state, and federal level including other funding entities to promote program collaboration, growth and expansion.
- Establish, maintain, and enhance rapport with other Alaska Native organizations to ensure unity of goals and vision regarding AKP’s mission.
- Develop and maintain rapport with key agencies and organizations to ensure provision of comprehensive services.
Talent Management:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management, Organizational Development or Leadership, Human Resources, Sociology or related field.
- Five years’ (5) equivalent progressive experience, including in a management or supervisory role. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native/American Indian community.
- Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and federal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced/Master’s degree and/or professional certifications.
- Ten (10) years’ equivalent progressive experience, including in a management/supervisory role with increased leadership responsibility. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
