Alaska Pacific University (APU) invites applications for Assistant or Associate Professor of Business Administration with specific focus on teaching and developing business programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels to meet the needs of Alaska, Alaska Natives, and rural communities. The Director of Corporate Programs has primary responsibility for integrity of ANELP and LEAD programs and related graduate-level Business offerings and coordination of all aspects of these programs.
THE UNIVERSITY: APU is a small, private liberal arts university known for experiential and project-based learning. The university campus is in Anchorage, Alaska, a diverse city and home to more than 300,000 residents. APU offers a unique set of bachelors, master’s and doctoral- level degrees, with emphasis on Alaska-critical and globally relevant issues. Courses are offered in-person, online and in hybrid formats. THE PROGRAM AREA: In the Business Administration program area, APU offers distinctive programs at each level, with significant networking and community connections for students. Offerings at the undergraduate level include an undergraduate certificate in Alaska Rural Management and an AA and BA in Business Administration with concentrations in non-profit management, accounting and finance and healthcare management. At the graduate level, the hallmark program is the Master of Business Administration with optional concentrations in Health Services Administration, and Finance. APU also offers: Executive MBAs in Strategic Leadership; a graduate certificate in Investments; and a graduate certificate in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. The area operates with a collaborative and entrepreneurial approach, developing corporate programs to address leadership and management capacity-building for Alaska Native corporations. Two such programs are the highly recognized Alaska Native Executive Leadership Program (ANELP) and ANTHC’s Leadership Excellence through Advancement and Determination (LEAD). The entire program area is housed within APU’s Institute of Business& Public Policy.
DUTIES OF THE POSITION: A full time contract carries a 9-month teaching load of 24 credit hours per year (typically, 3-4 courses per semester) with an 8-credit course release for the corporate program directorship. Teaching assignments may cross undergraduate and graduate levels. Responsibilities include mentorship and advising for students and faculty committees. All faculty are encouraged to grow professional recognition through scholarship, research, consulting, and/or other endeavors appropriate to their chosen field. Faculty are expected to participate in outcomes assessment, curriculum development, student activities, as well as other service to the university and broader community. Duties of the Corporate Program Director include assisting with recruitment, coordinating delivery of program courses, and working with the Steering Committee for continuous improvement of the program.
RANK AND COMPENSATION: Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and prior experience and is proscribed by a university-wide salary range. Director of Corporate programs receives a summer stipend in addition to salary. APU is a non-tenure college; faculty are eligible for multi-year appointments after initial contracts.

QUALIFICATIONS: At time of appointment, preferred earned doctorate or terminal degree in Business Administration or related field; Master’s level acceptable with education and/or professional experience in Alaska Native serving organizations.
