Do you enjoy operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines? The Geophysical Institute is looking for two Machinists to join our research-focused Machine Shop to use CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and other equipment to fabricate, construct, and complete projects. As our machinist, you will play an important role in designing and fabricating equipment that will be used by UAF researchers all over the world. This position is represented by Local 6070. Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree and two years research experience at the postgraduate level in a field relevant to the research (e.g. science, math, business), or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Demonstrate knowledge in Computer Driven Machine Tool programming and/or CAD-CAM software. Demonstrate working experience in a machining trade - (Journeyman/Master Machinist-Toolmaker Certificate or equivalent is required. Completion of a full machinist apprenticeship or equivalent is required.)
A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.
Position Details:
This position will be physically located at the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. The successful finalist will be expected to report to duty at the UAF office on the first day of employment.
